Sport Lisboa e Benfica B was a Portuguese football team based in Lisbon. Founded in 1999 and dissolved in 2006, it was the reserve team of S.L. Benfica, and also held home games at Estádio da Luz.

Reserve teams in Portugal played in the same football pyramid as their senior team, rather than a separate league. However, they could not play in the same division as their main team, thus being ineligible for promotion. Reserve teams also were not also permitted to enter in the Portuguese Cup.

History

Benfica B started competing in 1999–2000, as S.L. Benfica sought a way to provide playing time for its youth players and reserves. After three seasons in the third division, it suffered relegation to the fourth level, where it would spend a further three years.

The team achieved promotion to division three in 2005. In May of the following year, the board of directors extinguished the side, which returned to activity shortly after as part of the Liga Intercalar.
